For some people living with depression, traditional treatment approaches do not provide enough relief. When symptoms persist despite treatment, exploring additional options can be an important next step. Blanco Medical Center offers advanced treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato® (esketamine), as part of a comprehensive approach to mental health care in Kendall.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted areas of the brain. TMS does not require surgery or an implanted device. The FDA has cleared TMS devices for major depressive disorder, and specific TMS devices have received clearance for additional psychiatric indications.
TMS may be considered if your symptoms of depression have not satisfactorily improved with antidepressant medication. Because every person’s circumstances are different, a psychiatric evaluation is an important first step in determining whether TMS is an appropriate treatment option.
SPRAVATO® is the brand name for esketamine, an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray that provides another option. It is approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression, either by itself or together with an oral antidepressant. It is also approved, in conjunction with an oral antidepressant, for depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder who have acute suicidal ideation or behavior.
SPRAVATO must be given under the supervision of a healthcare provider in a certified healthcare setting. You are monitored following administration because the medication can cause effects such as sedation, dissociation, respiratory depression, and increases in blood pressure.
For someone who has struggled with persistent depression despite previous treatment, TMS and SPRAVATO may offer additional approaches to discuss with a qualified psychiatric provider. Our team can help you understand these treatment options and determine which approach may be appropriate based on your individual needs.

At Blanco Medical Center, we are committed to helping you achieve peace of mind and emotional balance. Blanco Medical Center is also committed to accessibility. Our office is handicap accessible and features elevator access to help patients navigate their appointments comfortably.
Mental health treatment isn’t only about reducing symptoms. It can also help you better understand the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and experiences that affect your everyday life.
Individual therapy provides one-on-one time with a mental health professional in a private, supportive environment. Depending on your needs, therapy can help you explore difficult emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, recognize unhelpful patterns, manage stress, and navigate challenging circumstances.
Rather than assuming the same therapeutic strategy will work for everyone, treatment can be shaped around your specific concerns and goals.
Finding the right treatment begins with understanding what you are experiencing. A psychiatric evaluation allows us to develop a more complete picture of your mental and emotional health.
The evaluation may include a discussion of your current symptoms, when they began, how they affect your daily life, your medical and mental health history, medications, previous treatments, and other factors relevant to your well-being.
This information helps us determine an appropriate diagnosis and discuss treatment options that make sense for your situation.
Psychiatric medication can play an important role in treating many mental health conditions, but prescribing a medication is only part of the process. Medication management involves ongoing attention to how well your treatment is working and how you are responding to it.
Finding an effective treatment may require adjustments. Follow-up appointments allow us to evaluate your symptoms, discuss concerns or side effects, and determine whether changes to your medication or dosage may be appropriate.
Board-Certified Psychiatrist Meet Your Psychiatrist
Psychiatry · Mental Health · Wellness
My patients are looking for more than symptom management. They want to be truly heard and seen.
I’m Dr. Mercy Blanco, a board-certified psychiatrist, and I believe every person has the capacity to grow and heal. Too often, psychiatric care feels rushed: a quick check-in, a prescription, and out the door. My practice is different. I take the time to understand your story, your history, and what matters most to you, in a safe, non-judgmental space where you never feel reduced to a diagnosis.
Together, we’ll explore the complexities of your experiences, honoring both your struggles and your strengths. When medication is helpful, I prescribe thoughtfully and collaboratively, explaining my reasoning and making decisions with you, not for you. I pair evidence-based treatment with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and genuine respect for the diversity of each person’s background, so your care reflects who you are.
My approach is holistic. We’ll work to ease the symptoms weighing on you now while building a foundation for long-term wellness. Along the way, I hope you’ll develop deeper self-awareness, self-compassion, and hope, and the confidence to navigate life’s challenges as your fullest self.
No two paths toward healing look the same. I’m here to walk alongside you on yours.
If you’re ready for care that sees all of you, I’d love to hear your story.

Why Choose Us?
Psychiatrists, like Dr. Blanco, are medical doctors specializing in mental health. They have the expertise to accurately diagnose and treat complex mental health disorders, ensuring you receive the right intervention from the start.
A psychiatrist can address both the psychological and biological aspects of mental health. This means they can combine therapy and medication management for more effective treatment outcomes.
For many mental health conditions, medication can play a crucial role in recovery. A psychiatrist can prescribe and monitor medications to ensure they are effective and tailored to your needs. Dr. Blanco offers personalized medication management to achieve the best results with minimal side effects.
If you’re experiencing a mental health crisis or severe symptoms, a psychiatrist can provide immediate support, stabilizing your condition and working on long-term recovery plans.
For conditions such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or chronic depression, ongoing psychiatric care ensures proper long-term management, helping you live a fulfilling life with a stable treatment plan.
Psychiatrists understand how physical health and mental health are connected. By seeing a psychiatrist, you gain a comprehensive view of your well-being, which can improve both mental and physical outcomes.
Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all. The first step is understanding your needs. Blanco Medical Center offers a comprehensive approach to mental wellness, including psychiatric care, therapy, medication management, TMS therapy, and SPRAVATO® treatment for appropriate patients.
